About the Book

There are a lot of Java books on the market; quite possibly too many. Why write another?

While there may be a lot of Java books available, most are written for experienced programmers. After working on "JavaScript for the World Wide Web, Visual QuickStart Guide, 2nd Edition" I found that I was getting e-mail requesting that I write a Java book "just like the JavaScript book, please?".

After looking around for a book to recommend to novice programmers, I found that there wasn't anything available fitting quite that niche. I'm hoping that this book will find its way to the same people who have bought so many of the JavaScript book: students learning the subject in a classroom, and people who've never learned the subject before.
